#MegaWattMonday with Emmanuel Verraes, Partner at INDIE LAW
This week’s MegaWatter: Emmanuel Verraes, Partner at INDIE LAW:
“Ain’t no way, ain’t no way I’m stopping now. Gonna make my way right through the clouds.” These are energising lyrics from the song “Rise” by my dear neighbour at the office Lost Frequencies, released on the Found Frequencies label after a year of downtime by the covid virus. “It’s been a hard year”, as the first sentence of the lyrics states without sugar coating. This reminds us once again that everything works out if only we keep going.
Always having been passionate about the artistic, after my years at EMI Music and regular in house consultancy assignments with a.o. Sony Music and VRT, I am still working full-time in the creative sector of media and entertainment. I see daily from the front row that creativity can only thrive in a sustainable way if it is legally well surrounded. Everyone has their own specific talents, which is why we all need one another and can help each other in the area in which we are strong. That is the beauty and harmony of a society.
For many years, my driving objective has been to assist artists and creative enterprises to protect their rights and interests, and thus ensure the long-term development and exploitation of their talents and creations. Since 2019, I have been doing so under the banner of INDIE LAW, a small independent and atypical law firm based in Brussels in which I can fully engage with my clients.”

At Steve Skills, we embrace #MegaWattMonday instead of #MondayBlues! You know when you hear an energetic song that sticks in your mind for the rest of the day and gets you rolling? That’s what it’s all about here: we invite people with a legal academic background to share a lyric from a song that invigorates them and kickstarts their week in line with our mission of #BoostingProfessionalEnergy.
